Invitation for Saturday, September 27
our first monthly meeting of the season, at Het Pand, Madoerastraat 16International Cafe @ Facebook
Dear International students,
We hope you had a great summer! We look forward to the start of a new season, welcoming back old friends who have joined us in the past, but also meeting new friends as they join our meetings of International Café. We met a lot of nice people at the University Fair and hope that lots of them will come.
International Café was started in 2008 to make students from abroad feel at home during their time in Groningen. It is a place to relax, meet friends from other cultures, and talk with friendly ‘natives’ about things you may not understand in the Netherlands. You can find more information about us and see photos of our activities on our website.
This season’s first regular monthly meeting will be held on Saturday, September 27 at Het Pand (link to find us), from 18:00 until 22:00 o’clock. There will be soup and bread, coffee and tea and homemade cake. This month there will be a short talk about cultural differences between Holland and the rest of the world! Because many of you may be new we will also be happy to talk further with you about any questions you may have about aspects of Dutch culture which you find challenging or puzzling. As usual there is plenty of time for games and conversation. One of students’ favourite games is shuffleboard, and we invite you to join in!
The evening is free, but there is a box where you can make a small contribution for the costs of rent and food. Please sign up for this meeting by Friday, September 26 through the form below or on Facebook so we know how much food to prepare!
We hope you can join us and bring your friends
IMPORTANT: If you have signed up but for some reason are not able to come will you please let us know as soon as you can so that we know how much food will be needed!
We hope to see you again, and your friends are very welcome!
Paul Nieboer, Hans and JoAnn van Seventer, Hinke van Abbema and Martin Geertsma
